CareNet Inc. History

Originally launched as a home-based business, CareNet, Inc. answered the local need for a nursing based model for in-home care. CareNet has since evolved to set the standard for private duty home care in Alaska. The Anchorage community and the vicinity are a growing population, and seniors are among the fastest segment of the population.

With baby boomers retiring and the aging of the community growing, CareNet’s owners have positioned the company and are ready to serve. The decision to have a nurse model of care is important for the consumer to understand. As a nurse owned and operated company, we offer years of medical knowledge and experience working with many medical conditions, as well as a variety of home environments.

Our nurses are natural educators, and teaching the clients or their loved ones how to better manage their conditions is important to us. CareNet, Inc. has a nurse available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; we call this our “safety net”. The on-call nurse can talk with the client or family member about any question or situation they may need help with.

The nurse model of care also benefits our caregivers. The ongoing educational need of the caregivers is met with our knowledgeable staff of nurses and office personnel. Having nurses on staff to educate our clients and our staff make us a unique model of care, and then having the 24-hour nurse on call adds a bonus to the services offered.

CareNet, Inc. nurses make a supervisory visit to the home while the caregiver is on duty, allowing the nurse to see that the caregiver is following the individualized care plan, and communicating with the client to assure their satisfaction with the services. Since 1996, CareNet Inc. has set the standard for quality in home care.

Education and Ongoing Training of the Staff:

Since CareNet, Inc. started, it has always been a priority to assure the minimum training standards of the in-home employees. Providing the minimum 40-hour State of Alaska Personal Care Assistant Training Certification is just one of our in-house benefits to our employees. Facilitated by one of our Registered Nurses, the employees get classroom and hands-on training in: Personal Care, Infection Control, Mobility and Transferring Patients, Specific Diseases, Hospice Care, Alzheimer’s Care, Nutrition and Meal Preparation for Older Adults, How to Manage Medications, Fall Prevention and much more.
